De La Salle College Macroom

Exam Assessments & Progress Reports
The college endeavours to keep parents fully informed on
their children's application and progress. Minor tests and assessments are
regularly given during the school year. There are major exams at Christmas and
summer, after which written reports are posted home. Parents are invited to
visit the College to meet their son's Classmaster- by appointment- during the
term. Parent-Teacher meetings occur once-a-year, and sometimes more often.
Parents of First Years are brought into the school early in the year in order to
discuss how their son is settling in.
The college takes great pride in its academic achievements. On average, over 90%
of our students obtain places in 3rd level education or employment within one
month of receiving their exam results.
In recent years two of our students have won University Scholarships to Trinity
on the basis of their Leaving Cert results. In both 2001 and 2002 we had a
student who scored the maximum 600 points. Teachers take great pride in students
achieving their maximum potential, which isn't always measured in A grades or
CAO points.
Former pupils have achieved great prominence in many fields such as Dentistry,
Law, Medicine, Engineering, the Arts, farming, Electronics and Computers, as
well as every other walk of life.
De La Salle pupils have proved themselves to be very high achievers in the areas
of industry and technology and many hold pivotal positions in these fields.
